GREGORY UTOMWEN OGBEIFUN

Mr. Greg U. Ogbeifun is a Marine Engineer and the Chairman/CEO of
Starzs Investments Company Limited, a marine company whose
activities include Ship ownership and management, marine logistics
providers, private maritime security providers, operation and
maintenance of vessels servicing the offshore oil industry
in Nigeria.
Mr. Ogbeifun is also the Managing Director/CEO of Starzs Marine
and Engineering Limited, an indigenous ship repair company in
Nigeria, which has carried out over 800 dry dockings since its
inception in the year 2000 employing over a hundred staff
and training many more.
Mr. Ogbeifun is very active in a number of high profile
professional organizations namely:
-Member, British Society of Marine Consultants and Ship Surveyors 
-Member, Institute of Marine Engineers
-Member, American Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers
-Member, Governing Council of the Nigerian Chamber
of Shipping (NCS). 
-Member, Institute of Directors
-Member, Advisory Board of the Commonwealth Enterprise and
Investment Council (CWEIC)
-President, Shipowners Association of Nigeria (SOAN)
-Mr. Ogbeifun was an accredited Marine Surveyor by Lloyds Register
of Shipping, London, and Germanischer Lloyds of
Germany and Bureau Veritas of France.
As the President of SOAN, in 2015, he led the Nigerian delegation
to the first ever Commonwealth Business Forum which resulted in
SOAN’s election as one of a three member working group of CWEIC
to explore opportunities for collaborations amongst Commonwealth
member nations. Other members of the working group include
Transport Malta and UK Maritime.
Mr. Ogbeifun’s in-depth professional experience and clarity of
vision has made leaders in the Maritime Industry and even the
Federal Government seeks his counsel severally and he has served
in different committees such as:
-2017-Member, Director General’s Advisory Council, Nigerian
Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA)
-2017- Member, Gelegele Seaport Development Committee (Office
of the Governor of Edo State)
-2016- Member, Nigerian Fleet Implementation Committee (NFIC)
(Office of the Honourable Minister of the Federal Ministry
of Transport)
-2016- Member, Ministerial Committee on Modalities for the
Development of a Nigerian Fleet (Office of the Honourable
Minister of the Federal Ministry of Transport)
-2013- Member, Ad-hoc Committee on Cabotage Vessel Financing
Fund (House of Representatives, National Assembly in Abuja)		
-2012- Member, Presidential Committee (on the Review of
Outcome of Maritime Sector Retreat) 					
-2012- Member, Cabotage Implementation Monitoring Committee

of Transport)
-2011- Pioneer Chairman, Planning Committee of the First
Nigeria Maritime Expo(NIMAREX 2011) Mr. Ogbeifun actually
coined the acronym “NIMAREX”

Group (Vision 2020)
-2006- Member, Reform Implementation Committee Nigeria Maritime
Admin & Safety Agency (NIMASA)
-2003- Member, Presidential Committee of the Federal Government
of Nigeria(For the Review and Verification of all contracts
awarded by NPA)

He has received many awards which include ‘Best Marine Engineer’
in 2004 by the Maritime Industry, ‘Immense Contributor to
Manpower Development’ in 2006 by the Maritime Academy of Nigeria,
Oron. ‘Trailblazer’ in 2016 by the All African Students Union
in recognition of his contribution to the welfare of students
across West Africa and ‘Manager of the Year’ by the
Europe Business Assembly in 2016.
He has presented many papers within and outside Nigeria on
crucial maritime issues
Mr Ogbeifun is a man that is very committed to helping the
less privileged. Worried about the high unemployment rate among 
he Nigerian youth, he incorporated Eaglewatch Security
Limited which today has over 600 Nigerians on its payroll.
Despite the demand on Mr. Ogbeifun’s professional life, he finds
time to bond with his family of a wife and seven children,
two of whom are already Mariners.
