Mr. Adeola Rahman Ipaye (OFR)
Mr. Adeola Rahman Ipaye, OFR, attended the University of Lagos
and obtained the B.A. Hons (History) degree in 1984, LL.B. (Hons)
in 1988 and LL.M. in 1992. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in
1989. After a brief stint in private legal practice, research and
electronic publishing, he joined the Department of Commercial &
Industrial Law of the same University as Assistant Lecturer in
1992. His teaching and research were mainly in the areas of
Contract, Commercial and Corporate Law, Taxation and Arbitration.
He rose steadily through the ranks and by year 2000, he was a
Senior Lecturer and Sub-Dean of Law. He also published several
academic papers and attended local and international conferences.
In June 2001, he was appointed Special Assistant to the Lagos
State Governor on Legal Matters. He was subsequently appointed
Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue (2007 to 2011) and
Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice (2011 to 2015).
In June 2015, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff to the
President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, in which capacity he
served as Chief of Staff to the Vice President.
In 2023, he received National Honours as an Officer of the
Order of the Federal Republic (OFR). He was also conferred with
the National Productivity Order of Merit Award. He is currently
the Principal Partner of Vantage Attorneys LP, a firm of Legal
Practitioners based in Abuja. Mr. Ipaye is a Notary Public for
Nigeria. He is also a fellow of both the Chartered Institute of
Taxation and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Nigeria).
